7.The Dome Houses In CapeRomano
Constructed in 1981, the dome houses found themselves under the ownership of John Tosto in 2005, who, interestingly, has yet to lay a finger on them. A constant wave of discontent swirls around the topic of their renovation, with rumors suggesting Tosto could face a hefty fine of $185,000 for neglecting them. Personally, I lean towards abstaining from restoration efforts. Their appearance, reminiscent of UFOs, holds an air of surrealism. Considering the circumstances, it seems more practical to raze them to the ground rather than attempting extensive renovations. While the aesthetic can be preserved, it may prove simpler—and safer—to reconstruct these houses from scratch. Nonetheless, it comes as no surprise that the dome houses have become a major tourist attraction, captivating the imaginations of visitors. Equally captivating is the Floating Forest, aptly dubbed by many. The sight of trees rooted within the ship’s skeletal remains is almost eerie, creating a haunting yet mesmerizing scene. With the aid of Google Maps, one can observe this peculiar spectacle from a bird’s-eye view.
